Wall Target Challenges

Equipment:
- soccer ball
- pieces of paper with numbers as targets to stick to the wall/put in the net
Description:
- children kick at different targets on the wall
- each target is worth a different number of points
- groups are given 10 kicks as a team to kick at the target and keep track of how many points they earn as a team
Wheelchair friendly?
Yes, children using wheelchairs can throw the ball or “kick” the ball with a hockey stick
Modifications to make the activity easier:
Change the equipment:
- use a larger, lighter ball (i.e., beach ball) to decrease physical and cognitive demand
- make the targets larger to decrease physical and cognitive demand
Change the environment: have the child place stand closer to the target to decrease physical and cognitive demand
Modifications to make the activity harder:
Change the equipment: make the targets smaller to increase physical and cognitive demand
Change the environment: have the child on a bigger team to increase social demand
Goal examples:
- I will be able to accurately kick the ball to hit a target 3 out of 5 times, from a distance of 5m away
- I can kick the ball and hit a target
