Description:
- child will balance a bean bag on their head while walking in a straight line
Modifications to make the activity easier:
Change the environment: to decrease physical and cognitive demand, shorten the distance that the child needs to walk
Change the task: to decrease physical demand, have the child hold their arms out to the side
Modifications to make the activity harder:
Change the environment: to increase the physical and cognitive demand, increase the distance that the child needs to walk
Change the task:
- to increase physical and cognitive demand, have the child balance a different object on their head
- to increase physical demand, have the child walk in different directions (e.g., backwards, zig zag)
- to increase physical demand, have the child walk faster
Goal examples:
- the child can walk 3m (without the bean bag falling off) for 3 out of 4 tries
- I can balance a bean bag on my head while walking
