Equipment:
- 2 objects (5 of each)
- masking tape or 9 hula hoops to make 3×3 grid
Description:
children compete as they:
- bring one object to the grid
- try to line 3 in a row (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal)
- run back to get another object

Modifications to make the activity easier:
Change the environment: decrease the distance from start to grid to decrease physical demand
Change the task: cue the child on where in the grid to place an object to decrease cognitive demand
Modifications to make the activity harder:
Change the environment: increase distance from start to grid to increase physical demand
Change the task: change means of travel from start to grid (e.g., running forwards, side-stepping to the right, side-stepping to the left, running backwards) to increase physical demand
Goal examples:
- I will be able to race my friend by running back and forth without stopping for 4 out of 5 runs
- I can place 3 objects in a row within the hoops
