Description:
- children kick a ball at the goal marked on a wall and attempt to rebound it by kicking it back
- each child has 3 lives
- child loses a life it they miss the ball or miss the goal
Wheelchair friendly?
Yes, children using wheelchairs can “kick” the ball with a hockey stick
Modifications to make the activity easier:
Change the environment: make the goal larger to decrease cognitive demand
Change the task: give the children more attempts (lives) to rebound the ball to decrease physical and cognitive demand
Modifications to make the activity harder:
Change the environment: have the child stand farther away from the wall to increase physical demand
Change the task: have the child kick with their less favoured foot to increase physical and cognitive demand
Goal examples:
- the child shows readiness to rebound the ball (e.g., moves body towards ball, eyes on the ball), 8 out of 10 times
- I can be ready to receive the ball after my friend has kicked it
