Equipment:

1 medium-sized ball per pair

Description:

  1. children sit on the floor with their legs apart
  2. one child rolls the ball toward their partner
  3. the partner reaches to catch the incoming ball
  4. the partner then rolls the ball back to their partner

Modifications to make the activity easier:

Change the environment: have children sit closer together to decrease physical demand

Change the equipment: use a larger, lighter ball to decrease physical demand

Modifications to make the activity harder:

Change the environment: increase the distance between the children to increase physical demand

Change the equipment: use a medicine ball to increase physical demand

Goal examples:

  • I will roll the ball to my partner 8 out of 10 times while being 3m apart
  • I can catch the ball and roll it to my partner
