Description:

  1. child kicks a stationary ball between two cones to score a goal

Wheelchair friendly?

Yes, children using wheelchairs can “kick” the ball with a hockey stick

Modifications to make the activity easier:

Change the equipment: use a larger ball to decrease physical and cognitive demand

Change the task: shorten the distance the child needs to kick to decrease physical demand

Modifications to make the activity harder:

Change the task: 

  • have the child run and kick the ball to increase physical and cognitive demand
  • decrease the distance between the cones to increase physical and cognitive demand

Goal examples:

  • in two weeks, the child will be able to kick a ball between the cones from 3m away with either foot (4 out of 5 times for each foot), when playing with friends
  • I can kick the ball between two cones
