Description:

  • child(ren) assume a crouched position
  • one child jumps over the other child(ren)
  • the “leaping” child then gets into a crouched position at the end of line and another child “leaps”

Modifications to make the activity easier:

Change the task: lower the number of jumps for the activity to decrease physical demand 

Modifications to make the activity harder:

Change the task:

  • have the child jump higher to increase physical demand 
  • increase the number of jumps for the activity to increase physical demand

Goal examples:

  • the child will be able to take turns with friends, leaping and crouching when appropriate, 5 times in a row
  • I can leap frog over my friend when it is my turn
