Description:
- child strikes a balloon with their hands or pool noodle without letting the balloon hit the ground

Modifications to make the activity easier:
Change the task:
- have the child use their hand to hit the balloon to decrease physical and cognitive demand
- have the child catch the balloon after each time they strike it to decrease physical and cognitive demand
Change the environment:
- have the child complete the activity in a quiet room independently to decrease physical and cognitive demand
Modifications to make the activity harder:
Change the task:
- require the child to hit the balloon when it is above shoulder level to increase physical demand
- have the child count the number of times they can hit the balloon in a row to increase cognitive demand
- have the child take turns with another child to keep the balloon off the floor to increase social demand
- have the child pair up with another child and pass the balloon back and forth to increase physical and social demand
Change the environment: have the child complete the activity with other children to increase cognitive and social demand
Goal examples:
- the child will be able to hit the balloon 5 times in a row to keep the balloon off the floor, for 2 out of 3 trials
- I can use a pool noodle to hit the balloon and keep it in the air
